MEDIA NOTICE:
For Immediate Release
WV Secretary of State to visit Kearneysville to recognize legislators for passing landmark child care legislation
For the last several months, WV Secretary of State Kris Warner has traveled throughout the state and worked closely with state legislators to discuss the lack of affordable daycare for children of working parents.
As the former Executive Director of the WV Economic Development Authority, Secretary Warner has made the case that child care is a critical component to successful economic development. Legislators in both the WV State Senate and the WV House of Delegates listened and responded to Warner's advice.
Working with the WV Association for Young Children and daycare center operators, Secretary Warner helped to encourage the passage of landmark bipartisan legislation to help support West Virginia's daycare centers and to encourage the creation of more childcare options for working parents. House Bill No. 4191 passed on April 2nd.
On Wednesday, June 3rd, Secretary Warner will visit Kearneysville to participate in a legislative reception for local legislators to thank them for their support of HB 4191.
The reception will be held at the Little Eagle Child Care Center located at 250 Murall Drive in Kearneysville. The legislative reception will be held at 2:30pm.Â
Secretary Warner and the legislators will be available for interviews. Members of the media planning to attend the legislative reception are required to email Little Eagle Child Care Center Director, Tara Lusby, by noon on Wednesday, June 3. Her email address is tlusby.leccc@gmail.com.
