SEK Announces Mid-Year Promotions

 

SEK, CPAs & Advisors is pleased to announce the following Manager, Supervisor, Senior Associate, and Human Resources promotions, effective July 1, 2026:

 

Nick Chapman, CPA, promoted to Manager, Tax & Accounting Services: Nick is based in SEK’s Hagerstown office and joined the firm in 2022 following an internship. He specializes in tax planning & compliance, succession planning, merger & acquisition support, and outsourced CFO services. He works with companies at every stage of growth, from startups and expanding multi-state businesses to organizations preparing for ownership transitions. Nick also advises private equity-owned and private equity-backed companies, with expertise in real estate, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, facilities maintenance, and other blue-collar industries. He serves business and individual clients nationwide, with a strong concentration in West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland.

Nick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Shepherd University. As a McMurran Scholar, he received the highest academic honor granted by the school for demonstrating outstanding scholastic achievement and character. In 2024, he was presented with the Merit Award for receiving the highest combined score on the CPA exam in the state of West Virginia. Outside of work, Nick volunteers with Connections Community Church and agricultural organizations in the Eastern Panhandle. He also serves as a pianist for various churches in the Eastern Panhandle and as a Director of the Bales & Moo Foundation. His hobbies include operating a landscaping and farm services company with his brother, traveling with his wife, and enjoying time with friends and family.

 

Sierra Overmoyer, CPA, promoted to Supervisor, Tax & Accounting Services: Sierra is based in SEK’s Carlisle office and joined the firm in 2023 following an internship. She provides tax, bookkeeping, compilation, and review services to closely held businesses, with a focus on partnerships and S corporations. She also serves individual clients and is a member of the firm’s Tax Efficiency Task Force.

 

Sierra graduated summa cum laude from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. In 2024, she was awarded the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)’s prestigious Elijah Watt Sells Award for outstanding performance on the Uniform CPA Examination, passing all four sections on her first attempt with a cumulative average above 95. Outside of work, Sierra enjoys playing board and card games, reading, and spending time with family.

 

Emma Grove, promoted to Senior Associate, Tax & Accounting Services: Emma is based in SEK’s Chambersburg office and joined the firm full-time in 2025 following an internship. She provides tax and accounting services to individuals and businesses, with expertise in tax return preparation, financial statements, bookkeeping, sales tax, and Research & Experimentation (R&E) tax credits. She works with clients in the manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and real estate industries and is part of the firm’s R&E Tax Credit Team.

 

Emma graduated summa cum laude from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an AACSB International Business Honor Society. Outside of work, Emma serves as Treasurer for Friends of Michaux State Forest and as a volunteer swim instructor for Special Olympics Capital Area. Her hobbies include running, hiking, swimming, and reading.

 

 

Laura Smith, promoted to Human Resources Coordinator: Laura is based in SEK’s Administrative office in Hagerstown and joined the firm in 2022. She supports the firm’s recruiting, onboarding training, offboarding, payroll, and employee records processes. With a background in accounting and administrative support, she works closely with employees and leadership to help ensure HR operations run smoothly and efficiently while supporting the firm’s compliance efforts.

 

Laura earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Hagerstown Community College and an HR People Analytics Certificate from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Management with a minor in Human Resources from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is also a Member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) University of Maryland Global Campus Chapter. Outside of work, Laura enjoys camping, kayaking, taking Jeep rides, riding her side by side through mud puddles, and target practice at the range.
