City, county governments honor Catholic Schools Week
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg Mayor Kevin Knowles and the city council, as well as the Berkeley County Commission, recently issued proclamations recognizing Catholic Schools Week from Jan. 25 to 31. The mayor read the proclamation at the council meeting on Jan. 8 and again during a Jan. 15 assembly at Saint Joseph School in Martinsburg. The county commissioners welcomed Assistant Principal Allison Bivens to their Jan. 15 meeting to read the proclamation.
Saint Joseph School and St. Joseph High School in Martinsburg, the only Catholic schools in the Eastern Panhandle, will mark the week with Masses, plus activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. They are joining parochial schools across the United States in celebrating the week, whose theme is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.”
